No longer the purview of the military, police or hobbyist, night vision devices are finding their way into some never intended applications such as the snaring of copy right pirates in cinemas. The Daily Record reports on the use of night vision goggles to catch or prevent would-be thieves from using movie houses to perpetrate their nefarious deeds. 'Cinemas are to use night vision goggles to stop criminals making copies of blockbuster film The Da Vinci Code. They will be introduced in Scotland for the first time as part of security measures which will include metal detectors and bag searches. Small camcorders and mobile phones are taken into cinemas to record the latest films. The cheats make their own DVDs which are then sold on the black market.'
