Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 Camcorder Review - CNET

Sanyo-Xacti-VPC-E1.jpg

A review of the Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 waterproof camcorder has been posted over at CNET. ‘Nowhere is the line between still cameras that capture movies and video cameras that take stills fuzzier than in the ambiguous market segment occupied by the Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1. Despite the moniker "digital movie camera" and the nontraditional pistol-grip design, everything about the E1, which includes the ability to shoot 640x480, 30fps movies as well as 6-megapixel still photos, says plain, old camera. And in that respect, though we're not exactly swimming in waterproof cameras, the Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 has some strong competition, notably the Olympus Stylus 770SW and the Pentax Optio W30.’

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2 Camcorder Review at Computeractive

Sanyo-Xacti-VPC-HD2-Review.jpg

Computeractive have published a review of the Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2 camcorder. 'Sanyo’s Xacti VPC-HD2 claims to be the smallest high definition (HD) camcorder on the market. Unlike most camcorders, which record video to a tape or a DVD, the cameras in the Xacti range all record video and photos to an SD memory card. Cased in metallic grey, the device is smaller than some digital cameras and extremely light. The design can be put down to the way the camera is assembled: all the main components sit around the top section, including the majority of the controls, which are arranged behind the lens.'

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2 - PC Mag

Sanyo-Xacti-VPC-HD2.jpg

A review of the Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2 camcorder has been posted over at PC Magazine. 'Unlike last year's model, the HD2 lets you store video on SD and SDHC memory cards. Video is encoded as an MPEG-4 file, to keep file sizes small. So, if you're using a 2GB memory card and capturing video at the highest quality setting, you'll be able to store about a half-hour of video (28.5 minutes, to be more exact). For still images, you can capture almost 600 7MP stills (at the highest quality setting) on a 2GB memory card. Although you can choose a 10MP setting for stills, I would avoid doing so because the camera uses interpolation to get larger file siz

Sanyo Xacti VPC-C6 Digital Camera Review

Sanyo%20Xacti%20VPC-C6.jpg

Cliff Smith has reviewed the "easy to Use" Sanyo Xacti VPC-C6 "hybrid still/HD video camera" over at Trusted Reviews. 'Sanyo hi-fi systems, perhaps unfairly, have a reputation for being a bit cheap and nasty, so it’s surprising to see the same brand name on this beautifully designed and well engineered product. The C6 looks like it’s been stolen from the set of a particularly stylish high-budget sci-fi movie. The temptation to flip the screen open, tap a few buttons and say “beam me up, Scotty”, or wave it over someone while making Tricorder noises, is almost irresistible. Or maybe that’s just me… [nope... I’d do that too.. ed.]

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1 Review

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1.jpg

Cliff Smith reviews the Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1 on Trusted Reviews and surmises the gadget is a fine example of a "hybrid digital still camera/digital video camera". 'The main controls on the back of the camera are fairly simple. At the top is a slider for the zoom control, and on either side of it are two large buttons. On the left is the still image shutter button, on the right is the video recording button. I have to admit I found the operation of these controls to be a problem. The still capture button is fine, and works like a normal shutter button, but as soon as you hit the video recording button it starts filming without any further warning, so you tend to end up with a lot of short unwanted clips that you then have to erase.

Sanyo Xacti CA6 Digital Camera

Sanyo Xacti CA6.jpg

Dennis Hissink over at Lets Go Digital.org previews the soon-to-be-released Sanyo Xacti CA6 digital camera. 'The stylish Sanyo CA6 is "protected from splash in all directions," conforming to the IEC international IPX4 standard. Splash-proof water resistance makes it practical to point and shoot even around the pool or at the beach. The Sanyo CA6 is also rugged enough to safely take photos or shoot video with wet hands while fishing, hiking, boating, skiing or enjoying many other outdoor leisure activities. While remarkably water resistant, the Sanyo Xacti CA6 should never be immersed in water. Ergonomically designed for convenient, one-handed operation, the CA6 digital media camera records both 640 x 480 resolution MPEG-4 video and 6-megapixel digital still images to a standard SD or SDHC flash memory card.'
