Pentax K100D Review - PhotographyBLOG

Pentax-K100D-PhotographyBLOG.jpg

A review of the Pentax K100D DSLR camera has been posted over at the PhotographyBLOG. 'The Pentax K100D Super is an updated version of the year-old entry-level K100D DSLR camera. The main new features are the Dust Removal system from the more expensive K10D model, which helps keep the CCD sensor free from dust, support for SDM (Supersonic Drive Motor) lenses, ISO 3200 mode and a much lower retail price than the original K100D had when it was launched back in May 2006. In all other respects the K100D Super is identical to its predecessor - there's a 6.1 megapixel sensor, Shake Reduction system to help achieve sharp images, 11 point auto-focus, 2.5" LCD screen and a compact design with metal body. Such is the aggressive nature of the DSLR market that the new K100D Super costs less than £400 / $600, complete with the more than competent 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens.'

Review: Petax Optio M40 Digital Camera - DigitalCameraInfo

Petax-Optio-M40.jpg

DigitalCameraInfo have published a review of the Petax Optio M40 digital camera. 'The Pentax M40 has a minimalistic, contemporary design and resembles many digital cameras currently on the market. The Optio M40 is attractive from far away, but its weak build quality is evident on closer examination. The plastic surfaces keep the camera lightweight for convenience, but less durable. The Pentax Optio M40 handles relatively well for a petite camera. While other flat point-and-shoots are uncomfortable to handle, the Optio M40 includes a slightly bowed right hand grip. The text on the front of the camera, where the right hand grips, is cleverly textured so users’ fingers won’t slip. The back has five raised dots for the thumb to grip.'

Pentax Optio Z10 Review - Pocket Lint

Pentax-Optio-Z10.jpg

Pocket Lint have published a review of the Pentax Optio Z10 digital camera. 'Out of the box, only a sliding front lens cover that also turns the camera on and off spoils the slim lines. The top plays host to one button, the shutter release while the back houses a nice, 2.5-inch, 230K-pixel colour screen, the easy to use zoom buttons a playback button and the ubiquitous four-way jog buttons. A menu and green mode button complete the ensemble. As usual, the four-way buttons provide scrolling and navigation in playback and menus respectively but also double up for drive modes, such as the self timer (top segment), flash modes (right segment), the shooting mode (bottom segment) and finally (right hand segment) the focus modes AF, manual and macro for example.'

Review: Pentax Optio W30 – Digital Camera Info

Pentax-Optio-W30.jpg

Digital Camera Info have published a review of the waterproof Pentax Optio W30 digital camera. ‘The front of the Pentax W30 has a matte silver finish and plastic wave-like design, consistent with its waterproof body - its most lauded feature. The 3x optical zoom lens sits directly in the center and looks like a submarine scope. The thick silver rim is inscribed with text: 6.3mm-18.9mm PENTAX LENS 3x OPTICAL ZOOM. Underneath the lens is the auto assist light for the self-timer. The thin-sized flash is off-center on the upper right of the camera. "Optio" is inscribed on the camera to the right of its lens. The W30’s most marketed element, "WATERPROOF," is printed in blue text below the logo. To the left of the lens is a shiny surfboard-like hand grip featuring the Pentax name.’

Pentax - K100D Review at IT Reviews

Pentax-K100D.jpg

IT Review have published a review of the Pentax - K100D DSLR camera. 'In the days when film was king, Pentax had a mighty reputation for its SLR cameras, including a much admired K-series (K2, KM, KX) which culminated in the legendary K1000 that stayed in production from 1976 to 1997. Now that we're firmly in the digital era, Pentax has abandoned the pretentious '*ist' prefix of its last digital releases and harked back to the golden age once more with the K100D.'

Pentax Optio A30 Reviewed at Trusted Reviews

Pentax-Optio-A30.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the ultra-compact Pentax Optio A30 digital camera. 'The specification is ambitious to say the least. The A30 is a 10-megapixel ultra-compact with a larger-than-usual 1/1.8-inch CCD sensor, flush-folding 3x zoom f2.8-5.4 lens (38mm-114mm equiv.), 3200 ISO maximum sensitivity, 2.5-in 232K pixel LCD monitor, DivX movie recording, face detection, manual exposure options and no less than three types of shake reduction, all in a camera measuring 57.5 x 89.5 x 23.5mm and weighing just 130g. That wish-list of features puts it straight into the top bracket of digital compacts alongside the best of Canon’s Digital IXUS range and Sony’s N-series cameras.'

Pentax K10D - The Photography Blog

Pentax-K10D-Review.jpg

A review of the Pentax K10D digital camera has been posted over at the Photography Blog. ‘When you first take the Pentax K10D out of its box, you can instantly tell that this is a serious camera. Weighing over 700g and measuring 101(H) x 141(W) x 70(D), this is a large and heavy DSLR, even without the lens fitted. The K10D has a reassuringly solid feel that belies its mid-range price-tag, with an all-metal body and extremely angular, sculpted hand-grip. It's a world away from the much smaller, entry-level Pentax cameras, signifying the company's attempt to provide a DSLR camera for more experienced photographers. The K10D is definitely designed for "normal" hands, departing from the recent trend of ultra-compact models.

Pentax Optio T30 – Pocket Lint

Pentax-Optio-T30.jpg

Pocket Lint have published a review of the Pentax Optio T30 digital camera. ‘No sooner as Pentax released the Optio T20, the company has upgraded the camera to the Optio T30. The new model still sports the large 3-inch touchscreen as before with a slight working to the design with the addition of more curves and a slimmer approach (down by 0.5mm to 19mm thick). That touchscreen for those not familiar with the T20 dominates the back of the camera's design and gives enough room for big fingers to touch the on-screen menu.’

Pentax Optio M30 - Pocket Lint

Pentax-Optio-M30.jpg

A review of the compact Pentax Optio M30 digital camera has been posted over at Pocket Lint. 'Pentax launched this, the Optio M30 along with the (already tested) budget, Optio E30 at the recent PMA show in Vegas and it arrives with a 7.1-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom lens and slim line styling that makes it eminently pocketable. The silver liveried metal body feels tough and looks suitably grand, the 38-114mm F3.1 to F5.9 optical zoom packs snugly away, flush with the body when not in use. Turn the camera on using the top plate's on/off button and the lens pops briskly out, the camera ready to shoot in less than a second. Responsiveness is good barring one aspect dealt with in a moment.'

Pentax K10D (with 18mm-55mm lens) – CNET

Pentax-K10D-Reviewed.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Pentax K10D DSLR. ‘As part of a system, the K10D remains reasonably cost effective, as well. Pentax offers an inexpensive, nicely designed battery grip and a decent, not-too-painfully priced array of amateur and pro KAF2-mount lenses and flashes. At 1.8 pounds, the K10D's body feels substantial, and every door, button, dial, and switch feels high quality, another rarity for its price class. It may be the same fundamental camera as the Samsung GX-10, but small differences in design make me prefer the Pentax to its Samsung fraternal twin. (Check out this side-by-side comparison of the two.)

Pentax K100D - Megapixel.net

Pentax-K100D-Reviewed.jpg

Megapixel.net have published their review of the Pentax K100D digital SLR. 'Pentax's K100D fits in between the K110D and the K10D in the company's line-up of digital SLR cameras. The K100D has a 6.1 megapixel resolution, a 2.5-inch LCD monitor, and an image stabilization system at the CCD level. The K100D's polycarbonate body is black, solid, and extremely well-finished. The body shape is well-designed and provides comfortable and secure hold, with rubber covered areas on the grip and a ridge that fits the thumb on the back. The top of the K100D's grip supports the chrome shutter release, surrounded by the power switch, which also serves as a depth of field preview when pulled to the position.'

Pentax K10D - Digital Trends

Pentax-K10D-review.jpg

Digital Trends have posted a review of the 10-megapixel Pentax K10D digital SLR. 'The front of the camera is pretty straight forward and dominated by the lens opening. Pentax, like every major D-SLR maker, has dozens of optional lenses. The K10D accepts all Pentax F-, FA-, DA- and DFA- lenses and they’ll function with the camera’s electronics when used in Auto. The lens supplied is the usual 18-55mm which translates to 27-82.5mm due to the 1.5x digital factor. Surrounding the lens mount is a key to change auto focus setting (single, continuous, manual), a flash open key and a very cool one not found on the competition—a RAW button. If you’re shooting in JPEG and the urge to shoot in high-quality RAW hits you, simply hit the button and you’re set. Almost every other D-SLR makes you go through the menu system to perform this task. Nice one, Pentax! You’ll also find a few subtle logos but nothing that seriously detracts from the design.'

Pentax Optio T20 - Trusted Reviews

Pentax-Optio-T20.jpg

Trusted Reviews have reviewed the Optio T20 from Pentax which has beeb described as the "the thinnest digital camera in its class". 'Like its siblings it features Pentax’s 6.2-18.6mm (37.5mm-112.5mm equiv.) Sliding Lens System, which folds down flush with the camera’s body. This allows the T20 to be just 19.5mm thick, making it one of the slimmest cameras available. It has a very sleek and minimalist appearance, with a simple rectangular shape rounded off on the top and bottom edges. The body is all aluminium alloy which feels nice and sturdy, and build quality is of a very high standard. Weighing 135g it is nice and light and won’t make much of a bulge in your shirt pocket.

Pentax W20 Waterproof Camera - Trusted Reviews

Pentax-W20.jpg

Trusted Reviews have posted their review of the compact, waterproof W20 digital camera from Pentax. 'The W20’s body is mostly plastic, with an aluminum inset front panel. Build quality is very good, and although it doesn’t have the shock-proof abilities of the Olympus mju 725 SW it still feels sufficiently robust to survive a few knocks. The shape is smooth and sleek with no protrusions to catch on clothing or get snapped off.

Pentax Optio M20 - Digital Camera Info

Pentax-Optio-M20.jpg

Digital Camera Info have posted their review of the Pentax Optio M20 compact "point-and-shoot" digital camera. 'The front of the Pentax Optio M20 has an extending lens that emerges from under an automatic lens cover on the right side of the camera body. The 6.3-18.9mm 3x optical zoom lens has a polished silver ring surrounding it. Above the lens, in the upper right corner of the front face, is its poorly placed and horizontally oriented flash. It was far too easy to cover this flash with fingers of the left hand during two-handed shooting. The in-camera microphone is located to the left of the lens, underneath three cutout holes. Above these three holes is a red self-timer lamp to indicate when the self-timer is turned on.'

Pentax K100D - DPReview

Pentax-K100D.bmp

A review of the Pentax K100D Digital SLR Camera has been posted over at the Digital Photography Review. ‘The new rounder, softer appearance to the K100D's body is certainly more appealing and appears to have become the 'family trademark' as it has been repeated with the recently announced K10D. The front of the camera carries some interesting curves, one of which crosses the face of the hand grip which interestingly isn't just for looks, it matches the increasing width of your fingers in the grip. At the back we have a fairly familiar Pentax digital SLR layout, a simple thumb grip on the right side and a set of controls clustered around the 2.5" LCD. One addition here is obviously the Shake Reduction switch.’

Review: Pentax Optio S7 Review - Cameras.co.uk

Pentax-Optio-S7.jpg

The compact Pentax Optio S7 digital camera has been reviewed over at Cameras.co.uk. 'The Pentax Optio S7 is a pocket sized digital camera. It has seven megapixels and a three times optical zoom lens. In terms of features the Optio S7 has roughly what you would expect in this type of camera. Therefore is basically a straightforward, point and shoot camera with a metal body and stylish design. The camera is likely to appeal to someone who is looking for a camera that is easy to use, can be taken anywhere and price wise comes in at the less expensive end of the market.

Review: Pentax Optio W20 - Think Camera

OptioW20.jpg

Dave Pickstone writing over at Think Camera has posted a review of the Pentax Optio W20 waterproof camera. 'The W20 has a waterproof casing but this doesn't mean you can take the camera to the depths of the ocean because there are limitations due to pressure. The camera is only waterproof to JIS Class 8 which is 30 minutes at a depth of 1.5m. While this doesn't immediately sound too impressive remember your typical compact can't even touch water. This ability is more than OK for using on holiday while you are splashing about in the sea looking at fish or for a little snorkelling - and it is fine for the rain too.'

Pentax Optio A10 Digital Camera Review At Megapixel

Optio A10.jpg

Megapixel.net has reviewed the Pentax Optio A10 which is "destined to be the flagship of the Optio digital camera line". 'Attention has been lavished on the aluminium alloy exterior of the Optio A10, with various parts of the camera finished at varying levels of polish and in different metallic shades. When the A10 is turned off, the lens retracts entirely into the body, which is then 23 mm (0.9 inch) in depth. The top of the camera supports three controls. On the right is the elongated chrome button of the 2-stage Shutter Release, which when pressed to the halfway point meters the exposure and sets the focus. '

Pentax K100D Digital SLR Camera Review

Pentax K100D.jpg

E Photo Zine reviews the Pentax K100D Digital SLR camera which should satisfy the requirements of the entry level photo buff. 'Although the K100D is made mostly of plastic, a combination of a lightweight metal chassis and the use of a special fibre-reinforced plastic for the external construction, makes the body feel rigid and sturdy. A soft rubber coating around the fingergrip further improves the handling, which is excellent for such a compact SLR. The camera feels well balanced with most lenses I tried, including a telephoto zoom and a macro lens. The fantastic pentaprism viewfinder present in the Pentax *ist DL has not been used in this camera. The viewfinder is clear, and although it could be brighter it is easy to confirm focus. The 2.5inch LCD screen on the rear is bright and clear, although the shiny hard plastic cover makes it difficult to see the screen in bright light. If you need to check the exposure or composition of an image, I'd recommend finding a shady spot.'

Pentax Optio T10 Digital Camera Review At Lets Go Digital

Pentax Optio T10.jpg

Lets Go Digital reviews the sleek Optio T10 digital camera from Pentax. 'The Pentax Optio T10 is a typical example of a stylish design camera. The compact size, neat finish and surprising back side prove to be features that instantly draw your eye to the camera. The Pentax Optio T10 will be a true godsend to all those that are suffering from "button-fear"; the camera features only four buttons, an absolute record! The Pentax T10 became available several months ago, and will have to go head-to-head with camera heavyweights such as Canon, Sony and Nikon.

Pentax Optio W10 Waterproof Camera

Pentax Optio W10.jpg

Cliff Smith reviews the Pentax Optio W10 camera for Trusted Reviews.com and concludes the compact is a neat little gadget. 'Despite its underwater capabilities, the W10 is at heart a point-and-shoot compact, and its range of features reflects this. It has no manual options, but it does offer 25 programmed shooting modes on an easy-to-use menu, three more than its predecessor, however some of them do look like they were added just to fill up space on the menu screen. For example “Report Mode” shoots at an image size of 1280 x 960 pixels, because apparently this is the right size for “reports”.'
